This was probably the worse hospital I’ve ever been to. The lady in the front at patient access was AWFUL. She was super rude all she cared about was you paying your bill and was stating that YOU HAD TO PAY right then and there. I just moved here and hadn’t gotten even got my first paycheck yet. This hospital lacks compassion. The RN and doctor was nice but didn’t do much. Never going back. I’ll drive further to Austin.
Wait time is ridiculous. It's better to take the extra 20min drive to St. David's in Austin. The staff at St. David's are more compassionate and professional and you don't wait 2.5hr in pain just to see a doctor. Won't be coming back.
Just spent more than ten hours here. This is not "human care" like the slogan. Came in with severe chest pain, rapid heart rate, flank pain, and dehydration. A baby with diarrhea was seen before me. Ok no biggie but I'm clutching my chest with numb hands and the worst headache of my life. Once I went back I was put in a dark room with the door shut and o pillow or blanket. Wasn't given a gown. Nurse put in bolas for IV with fluids but never hooked them together. I had to get up and tell them after it notdripping for a good 30 minutes. Dr. Was unconcerned with my chest pain and I had to ask to give a urine sample. Finally got blood work. Was writhing in pain and only offered nausea meds despite vomiting not being my primary complaint. Suffered through a contrast Ct scan with no pain relief. When I returned, my labwork was in. My potassium was 2.7. Dr. Seemed unconcerned. Finally offered me something for pain. Bed rail wasn't up and I was back to being in the dark cold room with no pillow or blanket where nobody could hear my cries or help me to the bathroom. I almost fell trying to get myself there. Left without answers. My blood pressure was still high and they never did a third reading on my potassium so I still don't know if it's improved. Still having tachycardia and severe abdominal and kidney pain. I would think with my symptoms my vitals would've been monitored frequently. They were taken after meds so of course they were a better reading being taken right after a shot. They should've monitored them between pain meds which were hastily given to get a true reading. I heard little noise from the doctors and nurses. I think they were sleeping or something while I struggled in a dark cold room alone crying out for help. I'm home now and my blood pressure is 150/109. They did not bother to check that before I was discharged ten painful hours later. Looks like I will be back in the ER in the coming hours and hopefully admitted where I can feel confident my vitals and bathroom needs are met. By the way there was blood all over the toilet in the bathroom. Very unsanitary place. It's gone downhill it used to be great care. This whole experience was negligent in my opinion. Go to Austin if you can, this place is scary now. I am seriously traumatized.
We love this hospital! They have helped us/saved us so many times and they are always nice, friendly and competent. Thank you, Seton Smithville!
Honestly, every time I wind up here the staff is so nice and wait times are tiny. But I'm coming from nyc where you wait 4 -6 hours with chest pains and bleeding so.. I might just have a skewed standard. Either way this is my hospital of choice. I have also taken my daughter here and their pediatric bedside manner was impeccable.
